Beyonce Aims To Launch New Label & Boy Band

Beyonce has been making the media rounds to promote her new PULSE fragrance as well as highlighting some of her other business ventures. In addition to her appearance in Dream Downtown last evening, the singer also spoke to Associated Press about her plans to launch her own label as well as a boy band.

Beyonce: Balance. I am still working on balance and still growing. I am starting my company, my label. I want to create a boy band. I want to continue to produce and do documentaries and music videos. I eventually want to start directing for other artists. Once I know that I have my stuff together and I trust that, I can do it for other artists.

I see so many male artists building these empires and passing their knowledge on to other artists and development. I see myself doing the same thing and hopefully other younger artists when they grow up and they have been around for 15, 20 years, they can do the same thing.

Beyonce is certainly a shrewd business woman and it’s endearing to see her following in the footsteps of other female media moguls such as Madonna and Mariah Carey. However, I hope she doesn’t create a boy band that follows the model of Destiny’s Child where only one member got attention and the chance to grow.

   There’s nothing funny about the DC comparison, it’s not even a joke. I thought the same. I’m curious to see what this band is going to be : is it gonna be 4 boys cast for building a product of the industry (…) or some guys who already know each other and work as a group? Anyway, isn’t funny though that Bey always said she was working for girls to see they can achieve their dreams and then she goes and signs boys first ?… I’m thinking 1) That’s where the money’s at cause you know the girls are gonna go crazy over this guys lol!! 2) And well, why bring the competition up herself ?
