Beyonce’s PR swiftly abated the media controversy involving the singer and her alleged plagiarism of Belgian choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker’s ‘Rosas danst Rosas’ and ‘Achterland’ in her ‘Countdown’ video. Now, probably hoping to make the entire scandal a distant memory, an alternate version of the clip has just been released by Beyonce’s team.
Watch the visual, , which entailed less direct samples of Keersmaeker’s production, below:
So why didn’t Beyonce initially issue this version of ‘Coundown’? Was she so “inspired” by Keersmaeker that she just had to use the woman’s work without her permission? I sense that we all have questions that may never be answered.
Thanks Beyonce Fans!
i like this version better. the woman is absolutely gorgeous.
Trent is such a screaming fag…
I say just ask for permission Bey. there was a time back in the day when artist could use and develop other artist ideas and become famous and original for it, but today if you hit a whistle note your pic is on YouTube beside Mariah, or if you wear a out fit/redo a famous movie scene your all over the place on every blog. I say even though Countdown was Very, Very Obvious just put up a slate that says inspired by or involve the actual artist/directors in on the project. Like she did with run the world video and billboard performance. and get Frank Gaston out the picture for a while, every time I see him on TV he showing Beyonce and Kelly something old, talking about lets put a new twist on it, instead of showing them something he developed in the studio, and working from the theme of the song.
i actually prefer the first version just because i liked the choreography and the visual it brought out. but this is video is good too.
Yeah this version is a lot better… Less plagurism to digest. And to that person who called Trent a fag…. You made and will deal…
well.. she always has those alternative versions.
run the worlds has alternative version, 1+1 has director version, best thing I never has fan version….
the belgian chreogrhaper said she won’t sue or do anything. it wasn’t that big deal afterall. those inspired concept thing always happen in pop or art culture.
(even the belgian lady was inspired by other dancers. so..)
then she was bitter about her work getting known by mainstream pop act (she has like oh I’m real real indie artist! thing… ), If the video is on the DVD which means “use for sale”, it can cause some trouble.
Be smart Trent, if this video was the fight that controversy then it would of came out as soon as that happened…this alternate version is a bonus video on the Elements of 4 DVD…Beyonce also has alternate videos for Run the World, 1+1, and Best Thing I Never Had so alternate versions of the other 4 era videos were very likely
Both versions dont stop the song from being horrible
I like this version, maybe she released the tainted version because she needed the controversy to promote the single. Besides, “Countdown” is the fan favorite besides “Start Over.”
