Did you know that Shania Twain’s ‘Come on Over’ is ranked as the best-selling album by a female artist in the history of the US?
Released in 1997, ‘Come on Over’ has thus far been certified 20x platinum in the US with SoundScan sales figures exceeding 15 million copies as of January 2011. In fact, the record is one of 8 albums that have been certified 20x platinum or greater and the only LP by a female act on the otherwise male-dominated list.
‘Come on Over’ spawned 3 top 10 singles on the Billboard Hot 100, including ‘From This Moment On’ and ‘You’re Still The One’. Of course, many people may remember the Twain for one of the album’s most notable tracks ‘That Don’t Impress Me Much’, which peaked at #7 on the Hot 100 and was accompanied by a video that garnered massive airplay on MTV and Vh1.

I knew Shania was successful but I never realised her album did that well! I used to love her!
Lord thank you for this post. this is one of my favourite albums. I know every song!!…i never thought i’d like country music until Come On Over, then again it’s not pure country. More like country pop
Shania Twain > Alanis Morisette > Norah Jones > Adele.
Check me.
X, I’d switch Adele and Norah Jones but I see where you’re going with this.
I would love for Shania and Mariah to do a duet. I know Mariah hates white people, but they’re both amazing singer/song-writers.
@Jacob no Mariah doesn’t hate white people she just identifies more closely with her aferican american heritage that’s all. her and Shania have sung together on stage at Diva’s live in 1998 along with Carole King Gloria Estefan & Aretha Franklin.
