New Song: Melanie Amaro – ‘Respect’

Earlier this week, we were given a glimpse of Melanie Amaro’s upcoming Pepsi commercial, which will feature an appearance by the legendary Elton John. Now, the songbird’s cover of Otis Redding’s ‘Respect’, which she sang specifically for the campaign, has been released.
There has not been any confirmation about whether Amaro’s ‘Respect’ will appear on her debut album. Thus far, her entire team has been very reserved regarding the project but they have ensured that it would be entirely different from anything that she did while performing on ‘The X Factor (US)’.

With the exception of a few rough moments, Amaro did an amazing job at modernising ‘Respect’. In fact, she basically’s gave Aretha Franklin’s sassy version of the tune the Mariah Carey remix treatment.
I am quite eager to here what Amaro will do with her debut album. Hopefully, it won’t only entail a collection of Dance/Pop tracks, though, because Simon Cowell already tried that model with Leona Lewis’ ‘Glassheart’ and we all know what happened with that ill-fated project; she collided a flop.

she’s sounding good on the record but to be honest i didn’t really dig her american idol performances, her voice broke a lot of times on that show

I don’t like it. I really didn’t want to hear a cover from her as her first song post X Factor.
Also, I remember in a past article on Christina Aguilera that a reason why Not Myself Tonight was not too successful was because of the big vocals (I think I summed that up right). I think that will hinder this too.
When I heard and dance pop beat, I don’t expect big vocals like she was giving at all. It was too much in my opinion. Not to mention that we know she won’t be doing much dancing if this song gets video treatment.
Love the vocals. Hate the rendition. Hopefully it’ll only be used for the commercial & is not the direction any of her songs are going. This gave me Jordin Sparks. I need something that screams Melanie. After all she won X-Factor. So show me somethin that shows why.

I’m sorry but not every song needs a dance cover/remix. I cannot cosign this. But I will say that those vocals are everything.

She Kilt the vocals but the production is sort of weak.
This is awful the production is all about the beat, not Melanie, she sounds like she’s competing wth the music to be heard so her voice sounds forced at times, and the music itself sounds old and tired. They can do beter than this come on! I also only liked her audition on Xfactor so I’m curious to hear her sing a song which will showcase her at least a little bit. Disappointing, even for a commercial.
