Okay, so Ne-Yo’s ‘Lazy Love’ didn’t make quite the impact that he was hoping to achieve on the charts so he has classed it as just a promotional release and opted to issue another new song as his lead single. ‘Let Me Love You (Until You Learn To Love Yourself)’ is now the main offering from the singer’s upcoming ‘R.E.D.’ album.
Returning to the Dance styling of Ne-Yo’s global hit ‘Closer’. However, instead of being a complete ode to the dance floor, the track incorporates slight R&B undertones, thanks to Ne-Yo’s vocal performance. Is this what we can expect from ‘R.E.D.’, which hits stores on September 18th?
Listen to ‘Let Me Love You’ below:
If Ne-Yo had a bigger voice then ‘Let Me Love You’ would have been perfect. There is an unpleasant tightness in the way he sings the chorus – “let love you…” – and it really detracts from the flow of the song to the point that it’s hard to so punch my speakers in a futile effort to fix it.
Still, Ne-Yo is clearly finding a balance in his music so that he can attract the widest possible audience. Hopefully, that scale doesn’t tip in favour of thirteen Dance tracks and two R&B cuts on ‘R.E.D.’. Remember your audience Ne-Yo; don’t be a Nicki Minaj.
